West End Calling is a national competition for musical theatre performers giving fantastic opportunities to young people all over the UK! Each year we audition hundreds of young performers in cities across the country to find the best talent the UK has to offer. After auditioning, successful contestants sing in live performances leading up to the Grand Final in a West End Theatre!

In auditions, you rarely have the opportunity to get feedback on how you've done. This is invaluable in the development of young performers and is the main reason we see so much improvement throughout the competition. Our friendly panels have all been in West End shows such as Wicked, Hamilton, Waitress, The Book of Mormon, Les Miserables and Mamma Mia (to name but a few) so their expert advice is second to none.

Getting more experience is the best way to build confidence and we offer a safe stage for performers to grow and develop.

The competition is set up in 4 rounds which are explained below. Each round gives contestants a chance to perform in front of a variety of different audiences and in different theatres.
The audition is in front of an industry panel of West End stars and you will sing a musical theatre song of your choice, before receiving some feedback. They will then make a decision as to whether you have successfully gained a place in the heat round. You will be notified of this within a week of your audition by email. Auditions last about 5 minutes per person
The competition culminates at our Grand Final, at a theatre in London’s West End, where our final acts get to perform to a bigger audience to impress our Judges who will select our Winner.
